The Pitch AgriHack competition has been launched in the Caribbean!

The Competition, hosted by The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), is geared to founders of e-agri start-ups and to African, Caribbean and Pacific companies owning platforms (websites, apps, etc.) offering digital services to the agriculture sector. The theme for this year’s competition is “Women entrepreneurs innovate for agricultural transformation in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific”.

The CTA has collaborated with INFOCOMM Technologies Ltd (www.ict.co.tt) and The Community HUB Corporation (www.mycommunityhub.org) to promote the Competition in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.

On May 11th, 2018, a Pitch AgriHack workshop was hosted at the Microsoft Trinidad and Tobago country office. The Workshop sought to raise awareness of the competition among local organisations which promote SME/ entrepreneurial interests. Thus, among the audience were representatives from NEDCO, NIHERST, UNECLAC, Enterprise HUB and the like.

Having benefitted from a speaker panel featuring IICA, FAO, Microsoft, INFOCOMM Technologies Ltd, UWI, WI Connect, Market Movers, and the competition host – CTA, Workshop participants reported a greater appreciation of the Caribbean ICT4Ag environment, and felt equipped to make compelling competition submissions.

To facilitate Regional interests, a webinar was also hosted on May 16th, 2018. The webinar essentially re-presented all workshop content and saw registrants from St. Lucia, Suriname, the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago. There were also extra-regional registrants who hailed from Uganda, Cameroon and Rwanda.

Deadline for competition submissions is May 21st, 2018. Interested persons are invited to visit www.pitch-agrihack.info or call 868-701-5499 for more details and to register.
